Against a backdrop of growing energy concerns and sovereignty issues, GRDF is strengthening its role in the regions. Véronique Bel, Customer Territories Director for Brittany, Pays de la Loire and Centre-Val de Loire, discusses the expectations of households, the obstacles to the transition and the levers for accelerating the development of green gas.
You have chosen to renew this study in the continuity of previous waves.
What do you think has changed so profoundly in recent months (in the public debate, in households’ relationship with energy) that this update is now of strategic importance to your decision-making?
Over the past few months, we’ve seen a growing interest among local residents in energy issues, which are playing an increasingly important role in their daily lives. In our regions of Brittany, Pays de la Loire and Centre-Val de Loire, green gas is developing rapidly and arousing real interest. It is therefore essential for us to better understand household expectations. This update enables us to adapt our actions so that they remain aligned with the expectations of residents and the energy ambitions of the regions
The study highlights a paradox: households are expressing a growing desire to adopt a greener, more modern energy mix, while remaining held back by the cost, work or satisfaction of their current solution.
In your opinion, what levers could really encourage households to make the transition to a more sustainable energy mix?
Supporting our customers in controlling and reducing their energy consumption is at the heart of our corporate project. In this transition, solutions such as hybrid heat pumps show that it is possible to combine performance, sobriety and pragmatism. They fully illustrate the importance of a balanced energy mix, in which gas, increasingly renewable, has its rightful place. By providing households with concrete, scalable and accessible solutions, we make their decisions simpler and more consistent with their environmental and economic expectations.

Question 3: In a landscape where certain solutions, such as green gas, are still relatively new but strategic for you, what trajectory would you like to see over the next few years? And how does this redefine your role in terms of information, support and partnership?
Given the geopolitical context and the energy crisis, the issue of energy sovereignty is more central than ever. Producing green gas is not only possible, it’s already a reality in some regions: almost 20% green gas in the Cher and over 13% in the Vendée, for example.
Our goal is therefore to accelerate the development of green gas and strengthen our role: to better inform and support local authorities and producers,
And developing partnerships to help new projects emerge. The sector is young but strategic, and it is profoundly transforming the way we act in the service of local communities.
