While the rules governing bank overdrafts and installment payments are set to become stricter soon, financial difficulties at the end of the month remain a reality for the vast majority of French employees. Eighty-three percent say they have experienced financial difficulties at the end of the month, and nearly one in two has gone into overdraft at least once in the past twelve months.

In this context, Ifop conducted a study for Deel on employees’ attitudes toward salary flexibility and their interest in solutions that allow early access to a portion of their already-earned pay. Sixty-two percent could consider using such a service, particularly to deal with an unexpected expense or avoid an overdraft.

Beyond its value for budget management, this new form of flexibility could also become a key factor for companies in attracting and retaining employees.
